Here We Go Again!

I started out with what I thought was a horror novel, only to be told that it was more of a mystery. So I worked feverishly towards changes that would make it more horror-y. I thought I had done it, but another professional review of my novel again reiterated that I had written a mystery.

At some point, you just have to call a spade a spade, I guess. I wrote a mystery. I’ve accepted that now, made further changes towards that end and finally got back to another final draft. The word final in this endeavor has laughably little meaning!

The Beast of Rose Valley is officially a paranormal mystery novel now, so I must apologize to any of you hoping for horror. Given its roots, though, you can still see some hints its previous genre. When trying to compare it to existing stuff, I ended up at Stranger Things. Not that I am going to pretend that my novel is anywhere near that awesome, of course.

So, given my new identity and recent revisions, I’m starting to send out query letters again — this time to agents looking for mystery novels. It’s also time to widen the net to hybrid publishing, which I think may be a better fit for me in the long run anyway. If all else fails, there’s always self-publishing. One way or another, y’all are going to read this book eventually!

Thanks for sticking with me. Hopefully it’ll be worth the wait.

I prefer the suspenseful mystery genre. And I can totally see it being made into a Netflix series.
